Erica’s Platforms

When I first made Atlanta my home, I was welcomed into neighborhoods that carried a deep sense of pride. I met families who worked hard every day, small business owners who built something from nothing, and elders who reminded me that our story is bigger than any headline.

For years, I had the privilege of telling those stories as a journalist. I learned that the strength of District 35 has always been its people. The resilient, creative, and determined ATLiens who pass on something better to the next generation. That lesson has stayed with me in every role I’ve taken, whether in the newsroom, the nonprofit sector, or the private sector.

Now, as I step into public service, I am not running just to fill a seat—I am running to lead. I intend to be a public servant who can provide consistent leadership and build power for this community and in our state.

I plan to be a common sense Democrat who will remain focused on results, working to ease the financial pressures families face by lowering the cost of living, expanding affordable housing, and raising the minimum wage while boosting small businesses and entrepreneurship—especially in communities of color.

I will be a fierce defender of reproductive freedom, civil rights, and public education and will fight against harmful GOP policies. I have the experience, energy, and values to represent State Senate District 35 with integrity and impact and ensure its residents will get fair investment in infrastructure, schools, and public safety.

My vision is simple: to honor our history, protect our legacy, and build the future our families deserve. Our community has always been more than the challenges we face. We are builders, dreamers, and doers. Together, we can carry forward the story of District 35. One rooted in pride, grounded in legacy, and aimed squarely at the future.

  • Georgia is proud to be recognized as the number one state in the nation for doing business. While large corporations and Fortune 500 companies play a vital role in our economy, the true heartbeat of Georgia lies in the spirit of entrepreneurship. Across our communities, small businesses are struggling to keep up with rising costs and are being priced out of their storefronts. As the digital economy expands, we must ensure that local businesses have the tools and opportunities to thrive, not just survive.

When elected, I will champion economic development initiatives that remove barriers to entry for small business owners. I will work to simplify and streamline the process of accessing support from the Secretary of State’s Office and collaborate with local partners to bring more coaching, training, and digital tools directly to our district. These resources will help entrepreneurs strengthen their operations, increase their visibility, and grow sustainably in today’s changing market.

Our community is only as strong as the businesses that serve it. Small businesses create jobs, foster innovation, and give our neighborhoods their character. It’s time we stop pricing out the very people who make Georgia special. I am committed to giving our small business owners the support, visibility, and opportunity they need to become the next great Georgia success story.

  • Let’s prepare our families for the workforce of tomorrow, today. Reading and writing are the foundation of opportunity and self-sufficiency — not just for children, but for adults, parents, and grandparents alike. Literacy is at the heart of a strong family structure and a thriving community. By investing in these core skills, we empower individuals to take charge of their own futures and contribute meaningfully to the economy.

Education and workforce development go hand in hand. Whether through technical training, certification programs, or adult education, we can give our residents the tools they need to compete in today’s rapidly evolving job market. These investments don’t just help individuals — they build stronger families and more resilient local economies.

When elected, I will advocate for expanded workforce training and literacy programs across our district. My goal is to create partnerships between schools, local businesses, and workforce agencies to ensure every resident has a pathway to success. By strengthening education and skill development at every level, we can prepare our community for the jobs of the future while supporting the families of today.

  • Infrastructure is the backbone of economic growth and community well-being. When we invest in roads, broadband access, and essential utilities like water and electricity, we’re not just maintaining systems — we’re building the foundation for opportunity. These investments create jobs, improve quality of life, and ensure that our communities remain connected and competitive.

Strong infrastructure reflects a community’s values. It shows that we care about accessibility, safety, and sustainability for generations to come. While infrastructure projects require significant investment, they are not optional — they are essential. Every dollar spent improving our public works is an investment in our future prosperity.

As your state senator, I will advocate for infrastructure policies that balance growth with accountability. From rural broadband expansion to safer roads and modernized utilities, I will work to ensure our communities receive the attention and resources they deserve. Infrastructure is more than concrete and cables — it’s about building the physical and economic foundation for a stronger Georgia.

  • Affordable housing is central to building stable families and strong communities. While the state senate cannot directly control market prices, we can influence the policies that shape homeownership and protect residents from being priced out of their neighborhoods. Every Georgian deserves the chance to build equity, raise a family, and live with dignity in the place they call home.

We must ensure that those profiting from our housing market also contribute their fair share to the communities they benefit from. By supporting smart, responsible development, we can expand access to affordable homes without discouraging private investment. Housing policy should promote balance — ensuring opportunity for residents while fostering healthy economic growth.

When elected, I will support legislation and local partnerships that make homeownership more attainable for working families. I will advocate for affordable housing initiatives that prioritize dignity, sustainability, and fairness. Together, we can make homeownership a reality for the next generation — and ensure that our communities remain places where families can grow and thrive.

  • As the only woman in this race, I feel a deep responsibility to represent the voices of women in our district—especially on issues of maternity, reproductive rights, and women’s health. I am pro-choice because I believe women deserve the right to make decisions that affect their health, their families, and their futures.

Science and data are clear: access to family planning and reproductive healthcare leads to stronger families, healthier communities, and a more stable economy. Yet too often, decisions about women’s bodies are made by people who will never experience the realities of pregnancy, childbirth, or motherhood.

Georgia’s women are tired of watching their rights debated and voted on without anyone in the room who truly lives their perspective. The future of Senate District 35 is built on families—and whether those families are led by single mothers or two parents, the bedrock of every strong family has always been a mother. I will fight to ensure that every woman in Georgia has the dignity, resources, and freedom to make the choices that are right for her and her family.
