Erica-Denise Solomon stands with Sens. Warnock, Ossoff in condemning compromise on core Democratic values in shutdown vote

Erica-Denise Solomon, Democratic candidate for the vacant Georgia State Senate District 35 seat, Tuesday released a statement siding with U.S. Sens. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in their admonishment of fellow Senate Democrats who recently voted with the Republican caucus to pass legislation ending the government shutdown.

Solomon stated that the actions of Democrats who crossed the aisle failed to secure necessary protections for working families and compromised core party values.

“I stand squarely with our Georgia Senators, Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. While the immediate goal of ending a government shutdown is necessary to protect federal workers and vital services, the means by which it was achieved should never be celebrated.

The move by these eight Democrats to cross the aisle means essential priorities — like extending Affordable Care Act subsidies — are compromised. This is not acceptable.

My campaign for State Senate has been built on working to deliver results, not compromising our core Democratic values. As the only woman in this race, I will ensure District 35 always has a voice that is prepared to fight, not concede, on the issues that truly matter to our families.”

With Early Voting ending this Friday, Nov. 14 ahead of Tuesday’s election, the campaign urges all voters to cast their ballots for a leader who will not compromise the values of District 35.
