Honoring Veterans Day and the Solomon family legacy

Today, on Veterans Day, we pause to observe and honor the brave men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces.

This day holds profound personal significance for Erica-Denise Solomon, as her commitment to service is deeply rooted in her family’s military legacy.

A family tradition of sacrifice

Erica-Denise Solomon’s decision to pursue public service is directly informed by the dedication and sacrifice demonstrated by the veterans in her own family:

  • Grandfather, Sgt. Richard Boykin, Sr.: Served in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the United States Army Reserves.

  • Father, Ronalder Douglas Solomon: Served in the United States Marine Corps.

  • Uncle, Charles James, Jr.: Retired as a Lt. Commander in the United States Navy.

"The principle of service is not abstract to me; it is the legacy I grew up with," Solomon said. "My grandfather, my father, and my uncle—each of them answered the call to protect our nation, often making sacrifices few of us ever see. Their dedication instilled in me a profound respect for duty and a commitment to fight for the communities they served to protect."

For Solomon, honoring veterans means more than just a ceremony on Nov. 11. It means advocating for tangible support at the Georgia State Capitol. If elected, she is committed to ensuring Georgia's veterans and their families receive the resources they have earned, particularly in the areas of:

  • Workforce development: Ensuring veterans have clear pathways to civilian jobs and access to training programs that recognize their specialized skills.

  • Affordable housing: Fighting for policies that prevent displacement and secure stable housing for veterans and their families in District 35.

  • Healthcare access: Advocating for state-level support to bridge gaps in mental and physical healthcare services for those who have served.

The final days of Early Voting

The most important way to honor the legacy of service is by participating in our democracy.

With Election Day just one week away (Tuesday, Nov. 18), the time to vote is now. Early Voting runs through Friday, Nov. 14, providing the final opportunity to cast your ballot before Election Day.

  • Find your Early Voting location online at the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.

  • Support our mission: Help us secure this victory by volunteering or making a final donation to EricaDeniseForGa.com.

On this Veterans Day, we extend our deepest gratitude to all who have served.
